The Rainbow Run 5K is created and sponsored by KCC GSA

 

This run is a non-profit untimed 5k, created and sponsored by a student club at Kankakee Community College. The purpose of this run is to join people from the community in a fun, accepting atmosphere where they can find common ground and set aside their difference. This race is all about having fun! 

 

The KCC Gay-Straight Alliance provides a safe, non-judgmental forum for discussion of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender issues within the community. Working together we can spread awareness, provide support, and promote equality with events, projects, and meetings. The Gay-Straight Alliance will work to advocate tolerance, understanding and acceptance of LGBT individuals and issues within the local community.

 

The funds from the Rainbow Run support our community outreach programs, our volunteer efforts and club events. Last year we donated care packages to over 150 troops in Kuwait, we have assisted in a charity fundraiser for cancer victims, and raised money for the Center on Halsted. We give back to the community and help those in need.
